When Emmanuel was building it's auditorium, we noticed that there were people sleeping on our sidewalks outside the building.  This led to the desire to open up the church as a cold weather shelter to help address the growing homelessness situation in West Kelowna.  Although the church no longer hosts the shelter, we have seen it develop into it's own Society and, with help from local groups and governments, seen it turn into a permanent shelter at the United Church in West Kelowna.
